Where the Buddha Walked

Bibiana visited China, India and Japan to capture these photographic impressions. The exhibit features a range of subjects from still-lives and inanimate objects to people and street scenes. The artist states, “The first Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama, was a spiritual teacher who taught a way of life that leads to a path to enlightenment for all human beings. Many Buddhas came after him to carry on this message of peace and harmony. Buddhism is not a religion, but a way of life, that spread from Northern India to China, Japan and all over the world. This series “Where the Buddha Walked” is dedicated to the message of harmony that is central to Buddhism, but it also has no religious connotation. The focus was on the visualization of harmony, whether the photos are of China, Japan or India. These photos are an extension of centuries old teachings that have all along been part of Bibiana’s own cultural heritage, as a natural, subconscious expression. She states, “In Chinese it is “the right way” of harmony: The right effort, right mindfulness and right concentration. I did not realize it until my photos showed me how. I hope you will find serenity, balance and peace in the photos.”
