Us All
In the Summer of 2021, in the middle of the pandemic, Bibiana conceived and curated an exhibit titled US All, by invitation of the Brookfield Arts Center in Brookfield, Connecticut. At that time, the news was filled with stories of resurging politically motivated hatred and racial violence against African Americans and Asians, as well as anti-Semitism and homophobia. The mission of the arts center was to show that art is a powerful force against hate and a resistance catalyst for promoting harmony and unity. Art can advance cultural sensitivity and be a voice for protecting vulnerable groups.
This exhibition was aptly titled US All. Who are we All? We are America. We are comprised of natives, immigrants and descendants of slaves. The successful and critically acclaimed exhibition US All was about positive messaging. We showcased diversity through portraits of our pluralistic, multi-ethnic/multi-cultural peoples – portraits of people in all artistic mediums: photography, drawing, painting, sculpture, etc. We included artists of all colors and backgrounds, of all ages and genders, majority and minority.
